Our ESG Department plays a central role in embedding sustainability across the Group by guiding strategy, coordinating cross-departmental initiatives, promoting ESG culture, and ensuring transparent reporting and governance, working alongside dedicated steering and working groups to align our actions with stakeholder expectations and long-term sustainability goals.

The d’Amico Group operates primarily in maritime transportation. Given that nearly 90% of global trade moves by sea, shipping remains the most efficient mode of transport in terms of greenhouse gas emissions—contributing only about 2.7% of global CO₂ emissions relative to the scale of goods transported.

The d’Amico Group is strengthening fleet efficiency through technical measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption and emissions. These actions support its decarbonisation strategy, improve operational performance, and contribute to compliance with environmental standards and long-term sustainability goals.

In 2024, d’Amico completed the transition from traditional to LED lighting across its fleet, resulting in an annual reduction of approximately 75.8 tons of CO₂ per ship and a total reduction of about 4,172 tons of CO₂ from the lighting upgrade alone.

We promote the highest standards of safety and environmental protection through an integrated HSQE system, certified management frameworks, advanced risk prevention processes, and continuous training, ensuring safe operations on board and proactive measures to eliminate accidents and operational risks across our fleet.

Our ESG Plan sets the foundation of our sustainability strategy, translating our commitment into concrete objectives, KPIs, and 2030 targets informed by our first double materiality assessment, and guiding the actions that drive our contribution to a more sustainable maritime industry.

Since 2021, the d’Amico Group has taken part in programs that promote reduced ship speeds to protect whales and lower environmental impact. In 2024, it joined the Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies initiative and received the Gold Award for high compliance. These measures have helped significantly reduce whale mortality and emissions.

We have established a “carbon war room” to accelerate the adoption of new technologies and alternative fuels, monitor regulatory developments, and anticipate IMO measures as part of our decarbonisation pathway.
